The Newcastle Art Gallery Youth Advisory Group acknowledges the Awabakal and Worimi people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, and pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present and future. The Youth Advisory Group is dedicated to honouring the culture and traditions of our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through the visual arts.

Alex Seton

NAG Collection Artist

Alex Seton's artistic practice incorporates sculpture, photography, video and installation to examine problematic ideas and concepts and give them form.

Seton has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally, including significant solo exhibitions including 'Alex Seton: The Island' at Newcastle Art Gallery in 2017.

Seton has also been awarded numerous residencies and art prizes. Most notably, Seton was the first Australian artist to win the prestigious Sovereign Asian Art Award in 2020. As well as, the Mordant Fellowship to the American Academy in Rome in 2019.
