Lottie Consalvo

NAG Collection Artist

Working with painting, performance, video and sculpture, Lottie Consalvo is Newcastle’s very own golden girl (although admittedly, she originally hails from Melbourne). Consalvo’s work is often paired back, restricted in its use of colour, employing the contrast of form, line, light and dark to explore the ambiguous terrain of memory, imagination and human experience.

Held in important public collections such as Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Newcastle Art Gallery and Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie, a residency with Marina Abramovic under her belt, and representation by Dominik Mersch Gallery and Jan Murphy Gallery - Consalvo is in the middle of a forceful career.

“LOTTIE CONSALVO’S WORK [THE LAST ARBORIST] IS INTRIGUING IN ITS UTILISATION OF OBSTRUCTING OBJECTS FROM VIEW. THE MAGNITUDE OF THE BRANCH ERUPTING FROM THE WATER IN THE SAME WAY THE BODY INSTANTLY DISAPPEARS SPEAKS TO BOTH LIFE AND DEATH” — M. NANGLE.
