Wednesday Sutherland

Wednesday Sutherland (b. 1992) is an emerging artist living and working in Newcastle, AU. Primarily working with photographic methods, Wednesday’s approach to image-making focusses on documenting her immediate surrounds, using repetition and methods of abstraction to evoke emotion from the viewer. Concerned with everyday objects, plants and scenes, Wednesday's referential images are created using a variety of contemporary and traditional post-production processes, in an attempt to further her own understanding of the world around her.

In 2020, Wednesday curated premier contemporary artspace The Lock-Up’s annual fundraiser show COLLECT, and won the Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize for Photomedia. In 2021 she will complete her Bachelor of Creative Industries (Visual Art) at University of Newcastle. Wednesday is also a member WHIP Collective, a group of women-identifying photographers based in the Newcastle and wider Hunter region.
